2. How is The Internet College different from other online learning programmes or MOOCs?

The Internet College is a one-of-its-kind learning enterprise. The pedagogy of The Internet College moves away from traditional teaching methods and encourages out-of-the-box endeavours to impart relevant skills and knowledge.

The Internet College is closely connected with the needs and the challenges of society and the learning programmes are designed to address these challenges.

3. What are the expected outcomes of a learning programme?

At the end of every learning programme, the learner is expected to be more skilled, knowledgeable and enabled in terms of employment opportunities and entrepreneurial abilities.
There will also be a placement programme associated with some of our offerings to help jobseekers find suitable employment opportunities. The Internet College, in association with The College of Startups, will also help to nurture startup ideas.


4. What are the eligibility criteria for me to enroll as a learner in the programmes being offered by The Internet College?

There are no formal eligibility requirements for you to be enrolled in our learning programmes.

The Internet College invites everyone with an Internet connection to be associated with us as a learner or as a mentor. There are also no age restrictions for enrollment. You could be a working professional, a jobseeker or a student. If you wish to seek new knowledge and build your skills for better career prospects, in interesting and innovative ways, you are welcome to enroll in our programmes.


5. What are the eligibility criteria for you to be a mentor for the learning programmes being offered by The Internet College?

There are no formal qualifications that are required for you to be associated with The Internet College as a mentor.

If you are relatively experienced in the field of the learning progamme, in terms of academic qualifications or work experience, and are passionate about innovative ways of imparting skills and knowledge to the learners, you are invited to be associated with The Internet College as a mentor. The Internet College will assess your suitability to be a mentor.

The mentoring process will be through an online platform where the mentor is to work from home.
Mentors will be oriented towards the unique pedagogy of The Internet College.


6. What kind of Internet connection and device do I require to be enrolled?

An Internet connection with a reasonable speed (512 kbps is ideal) and a basic smartphone are the only two pre-requisites for you to be enrolled in our programmes.


7. What is the certification system of The Internet College?

The Internet College has decidedly moved away from the system of granting degrees/diplomas at the end of the learning programmes.
The programmes are designed to enrich and enable the learners in terms of skills and knowledge, so as to make them more employable and entrepreneurial.
Certification akin to Open Badges will be issued upon completion of the learning programme.
Given the credentials of the people associated with The Internet College, our certification will carry weight in society.


8. Is there a placement programme at The Internet College?

Yes, The Internet College is going to institute a placement programme in the coming months for some its learning programmes.


9. What is the fee structure for the learning programmes?

The fee structure varies with every learning programme. To know the exact fee for the programme of interest, you may look up the details of the modules.
The Internet College has designed its fee structure so as to ensure that a great number of learners can benefit from its offerings. Typically, the fee charged ranges between Rs. 2,000- Rs. 4,000 per module.
We also offer fee waivers for those in need of financial assistance.


10. How many learning programmes of The Internet College can I be enrolled in?

You are free to enroll in as many learning programmes as you like. You can also be enrolled in more than one learning programme simultaneously. While there are no restrictions from our end, you will need to keep in mind that the schedules of the sessions may overlap.


11. How are the modules of every programme defined?

Many of the learning programmes at The Internet College are distributed across three modules:

  • Basic 
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

Each module of four weeks is independent and complete in itself, with clearly defined learning outcomes.


12. At what level of the learning programme is the learner to enroll?

You can choose to enroll in any of the three modules- Basic, Intermediate and Advanced- depending on your level of proficiency (based on the descriptions provided with the modules) and on the knowledge and skills that you wish to attain. However, if we find that your application is better suited for a module different from the one that you have opted for, we will notify you.

You are welcome to progress to the Intermediate and Advanced levels after you have successfully completed the Basic module.


13. What is the length/duration of every module?
Each module (for every learning programme) is to run for a period of 4 weeks. The sessions will be conducted 3-4 days a week, and each session will last for up to two hours.


14. What are the timings of the sessions that will be conducted?

The Internet College allows for sufficient flexibility so that the participants in the learning programme can convene, over the Internet, at a time suitable for all. The participants can also decide to meet with their respective learning groups, in the comfort of their own homes, late in the evenings, so that their regular day at work or school is not disturbed. We will list out the available time slots, from which each group is to pick a suitable one.


15. As a mentor, will I be engaged full-time or part-time with The Internet College?

You can offer to be a mentor for as many learning programmes as you like. However, your level of proficiency (experience and qualifications) will have to be suited to the learning programme and your schedule should permit you to be a mentor with The Internet College either full time or part time.


16. What is the compensation being offered to mentors?

Mentors will be satisfactorily remunerated based on the number of hours they spend on each learning module and the number of programmes that they choose to mentor. You can certainly look at your mentorship assignment as a full-time employment option.


17. What is the Mentor Orientation Programme about?

Selected mentors will have to go through a thorough Mentor Orientation Programme that will introduce him or her to the unique pedagogy of The Internet College.
The idea behind orienting the mentors towards the philosophy and pedagogy of The Internet College is to ensure that the programmes can reach their learning outcomes holistically and most effectively.


18. When will the learning programmes commence?

The following learning programmes shall commence from June/July 2017:

  • Making Movies: The Power of the Smartphone
  • School Mathematics for Grade VI Made Friendly: For Parents, Teachers and Students
